Friday's booking of Conor McGregor versus Khabib Nurmagomedov for the latter's UFC lightweight title set the MMA world ablaze.

Dustin Poirier vs. Nathan Diaz, which the UFC also announced Friday, will take place Nov. 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Diaz is one of the UFC's biggest stars, but he's also among its most mercurial.

The historical book on the Louisiana native was that he was a good, exciting fighter who didn't quite have what it takes to reach the top echelon.
